    Alex de la Iglesia wins the best director award at Venice 2010

    The 67 Venice Film Festival Jury, chaired by Quentin Tarantino and comprised of Guillermo Arriaga, Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Arnaud Desplechin, Danny Elfman, Luca Guadagnino, Gabriele Salvatores, viewed all twenty-four films in competition and decided the winners. except for the Best Film Award that went to Quentin Tarantino’s  close friend, Sofia Coppola, most of the other major awards are won by European films and filmmakers.

    GOLDEN LION for Best Film:
    SOMEWHERE by Sofia Coppola (USA)

    SILVER LION for Best Director to:
    Álex de la Iglesia for the film BALADA TRISTE DE TROMPETA
    (Spain, France)

    SPECIAL JURY PRIZE to:
    ESSENTIAL KILLINGby Jerzy SKOLIMOWSKI
    (Poland, Norway, Hungary, Ireland)

    COPPA VOLPI
    for Best Actor:
    Vincent GALLO
    in the film ESSENTIAL KILLING by Jerzy SKOLIMOWSKI
    (Poland, Norway, Hungary, Ireland)

    COPPA VOLPI
    for Best Actress:
    Ariane LABED
    in the film ATTENBERG by Athina Rachel TSANGARI (Greece)

    MARCELLO MASTROIANNI AWARD
    for Best Young Actor or Actress:

    in the film BLACK SWAN by Darren ARONOFSKY (USA)

    OSELLA for Best Cinematography to:
    MIKHAIL KRICHMAN
    for the film SILENT SOULS (OVSYANKI) by Aleksei FEDORCHENKO (Russia)

    OSELLA for Best Screenplay to:

    LION OF THE FUTURE – “LUIGI DE LAURENTIIS” VENICE AWARD FOR A DEBUT FILM
    Lion of the Future – “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Award for a Debut Film Jury at the 67th Venice Film Festival, comprised of Fatih Akin (President), Nina Lath Gupta, Stanley Kwan, Samuel Maoz, Jasmine Trinca, has unanimously decided to award:

    COGUNLUK (MAJORITY) by Seren YÜCE (Turkey) – VENICE DAYS
    as well as a prize of 100,000 USD, donated by Filmauro di Aurelio e Luigi De Laurentiis to be divided equally between director and producer

    ORIZZONTI PRIZE
    The Orizzonti Jury of the 67th Venice Film Festival, chaired by Shirin Neshat and composed of Raja Amari, Lav Diaz, Alexander Howarth and Pietro Marcello after screening the 64 films in competition has decided to award:

    The ORIZZONTI PRIZE (FULL-LENGTH FILMS)
    to VERANO DE GOLIAT by Nicolás PEREDA (Mexico, Canada)

    The SPECIAL ORIZZONTI JURY PRIZE (FULL-LENGTH FILMS)

    to COMING ATTRACTIONS by Peter TSCHERKASSKY(Austria)

    The ORIZZONTI AWARD (MEDIUM-LENGTH FILMS)
    to TSE (OUT) by Roee ROSEN (Israel)

    a SPECIAL MENTION
    to JEAN GENTIL by Laura Amelia GUZMÁN and Israel CÁRDENAS (Dominican Republic, Mexico, Germany)

    The Jury, after screening the 21 European short films in the Orizzonti competition, has decided to give
    the VENICE SHORT FILM NOMINEE FOR THE EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS
    to THE EXTERNAL WORLD by David OREILLY (Germany)

    CONTROCAMPO ITALIANO PRIZE
    The Controcampo Italiano Prize Jury at the 67th Venice Film Festival, comprised of Valerio Mastandrea (President), Susanna Nicchiarelli, Dario Edoardo Viganò, has unanimously decided to award:
    20 SIGARETTE by Aureliano AMADEI (Italy)

    The jury has also decided to award a Special mention to actor Vinicio MARCHIONI (20 SIGARETTE)
